Ferrari, the iconic luxury car manufacturer, has taken a groundbreaking step by embracing Bitcoin for its U.S. transactions. This move is hailed by CoinFlip CEO Ben Weiss as a significant victory in the market, signaling a new era where cryptocurrency becomes a mainstream payment option. Ferrari’s initiative allows buyers to purchase renowned models like the SF90 Stradale, Ferrari Purosangue, and Daytona SP3 using Bitcoin.
This strategic decision came after recognizing a surge in client demand for diverse payment methods. Ferrari partnered with BitPay, a leading crypto payment firm, to facilitate this transition, making them part of a network that includes AMC Theaters and Newegg. Initially, this service is available in 10 U.S. locations, including Washington and Las Vegas.
Ben Weiss of CoinFlip remarks, “Their notable reputation can increase adoption, cryptocurrency value and consumer confidence.” He anticipates that Ferrari’s adoption of crypto payments will not only boost Bitcoin’s usage but also trigger regulatory advancements in cryptocurrency.
Moreover, Ferrari’s choice aligns with their commitment to environmental, social, and corporate governance. A Ferrari spokesperson stated, “The analysis of data regarding the environmental impact associated with cryptocurrencies has been a fundamental part of our decision-making process.” This approach is in concert with Ferrari’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
