In a landmark move for Thailand’s digital landscape, tech giants AWS, Google, and Microsoft are poised to channel a combined investment of 300 billion baht ($8.5 billion) into the nation. Each corporation has pledged an equal share of 100 billion baht, signifying a major boost for local infrastructure and economic growth.
AWS is set to pioneer this initiative with a $5 billion data center, a project spanning 15 years. The Thai government, buoyed by this development, anticipates a surge in national competitiveness. “The prime minister is confident that AWS’ investment will enhance the country’s competitiveness,” spokesperson Chai Wacharonke conveyed. Microsoft and Google are also in the process of finalizing their plans for establishing significant data center operations in Thailand.
