Nvidia, the renowned U.S. chipmaker, has announced plans to strengthen its collaboration with Vietnam’s foremost technology companies, bolstering the nation’s capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital infrastructure. Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s CEO, emphasized the company’s commitment during his inaugural visit to Hanoi, highlighting the existing $250 million investment and the millions of Vietnamese clients served.
In a strategic move, Nvidia aims to deepen ties with local tech giants such as Viettel, FPT, Vingroup, and VNG. This initiative promises to enhance AI applications across various sectors, including cloud computing, automotive, and healthcare. The recent White House document underscored the importance of this partnership, particularly following the enhancement of diplomatic relations between Washington and Vietnam.
Vietnam’s ambition to carve a niche in chip design and manufacturing has gained momentum amidst the shifting trade dynamics between the U.S. and China. Recognizing this potential, Nvidia is in talks to explore semiconductor collaborations, as reported by Reuters.
Vietnam’s investment minister, Nguyen Chi Dzung, has welcomed Nvidia’s interest and is readying the ground with attractive incentives for investments in the semiconductor and AI domains. The minister also encouraged Nvidia to consider establishing a research and development center in Vietnam, a proposal that aligns with discussions between Huang and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
